DPSST Security Certifications
WE PROVIDE DPSST SECURITY TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION
We offer DPSST security training and certification for Oregon’s private security workforce. Our courses meet all DPSST requirements, including armed and unarmed security certification, while delivering hands-on skills needed for real-world performance. We also provide recertification for security professionals to keep your license current and compliant.
Hosting Tactical Training Events for Law Enforcement & Military Tactical Teams
Where we host advanced tactical training events in the Rogue Valley for law enforcement, military units and well-trained civilians. Our expert instructors bring experience from around the world to sharpen decision-making, precision, and survivability. Courses include patrol rifle, defensive pistol, CQB fundamentals, vehicle tactics, low-light operations, and more.
Civilian Firearms & Concealed Carry Training
From first-time gun owners to experienced shooters, we offer civilian firearms training, security firearms training, and concealed handgun license (CHL) courses. Our programs in Medford and Jackson County focus on safety, confidence, and practical skills—helping you become a capable, responsible, and prepared shooter.

DPSST Additional Firearm Add-on Qualification

Armed security professionals certified through the state of Oregon DPSST are now required under House Bill 2527 to complete a firearms qualification training every year for each firearm make, model, and caliber that the armed private security professional will possess or have access to while performing private security services.
All security entities are required to maintain employee proof of training of each weapon platform an employee uses or has access to while performing private security services.

This class will be in the traditional 2-day format on Friday & Saturday, and the class will shoot the local USPSA match at RVSSA together on Sunday. The match will provide an opportunity to put the skills from class into practice, walk stages and discuss stage planning in more detail, and get some in person coaching throughout the match.

Unarmed Security Refresher – $75
This 4-hour refresher course is designed for currently certified unarmed security officers who need to renew their DPSST certification. All required training documents are provided and submitted directly to the Oregon DPSST by the instructor, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free renewal process. -

Mantis Strategic Defense is a locally veteran family-owned training company based in Southern Oregon, committed to providing up-to-date firearms handling and training. We offer security certifications with Oregon's DPSST (Department of Public Safety Standards and Training) courses, as well as various weapons safety and handling courses for civilians. Our mission is to create a welcoming atmosphere for clients of all skill levels, focusing on state and federal weapons education and teachings of fundamental skills that are essential to life with and without firearms.
